OUR STORY

Woodcock Road Brewery started out in my kitchen.  in 2015 I had heard a lot about people brewing their own beer, and the quality was just as good if not better than commercial beers.

My first attempt was a 10L batch of extract brew. The process was easy and fun to do on a Friday evening! The beer was not that great, but good enough to be consumed quickly.

I started looking at a larger set up, and purchased a 25l brew kettle. This was able to do all grain, and the next batches were kits from the local brew shop.

As I got the hang of this, I wanted to make my own beers, not just someone elses.

The first attempt was a disaster, as it tasted like spirits, and gave a massive headache..

Research showed that I needed to have temperature control, and the gear to do this was aquired.

Now that I had a brewery, A name for the brewery seemed sensible, and the source of the name came from my kids. As our location is on a street called Rugdeveien (all the streets are named after birds..) my daughter suggested using this as the brewery name. I found the name a bit boring. The English name for rugde was Woodcock, so the translation of our street is Woodcock road.. (yeah I had to google it too)

A logo was made, and changed when we launched the website

Since then quite a bit of gear has been purchased, and the development continues..

I really like the science behind brewing beer, and what goes in to creating a really good one.

Add to that the fun of developing new ideas, and making changes to previous batches, and there is a large part of why we continue to drive forward.

In 2018 I launched the Youtube Channel, and improved on the Instagram integration

(Check it out in our Social Media page)

We do like to break the established rules though.. if it makes sense, and sometimes even when it does not..

Hi, I am the brewer responsible for Woodcock road

My day job is within professional audio at Sennheiser.

Just started doing this as a hobby in 2016. I found it easier than i anticipated, and have steadily become

more advanced as I learned more.

I do tend to go all in to hobbies, and being a bit of a tech junkie Brewing has a lot to attract my interest.

So a lot of gear has been purchased in a fairly short time. Still I keep finding new stuff.

A hobby that has taught me alot about beer, and I like beer quite a lot
