This weekend was one I was looking forward to. On the plan was the first ever NE IPA! loaded with unprecedented amounts of hops, and adding a new technique to the mix. Easy to get a bit exited.
I also planned to try a fast-beer recepie with our Sorachi Samurai using extracts rather than grains. This is mostly for personal consumption, so more for the learning and potentially also aiding in recepie development. More on that in a bit..
Overall I will say that doing two brews at the same time does add to the stress of the Brewer.. But the time factor was actually fairly easy to manage. As both heating, and steeping a smaller batch is quite a bit faster than a mash, the Extract brew was done before the all grain was at a critical stage. Result!!
The NE IPA went pretty smoothly, even if OG was off by a few points, it will be potent enough.
The sheer volume of hops is madness, but the smells it makes are fantastic.
One of the key components is the very early addition of dry hops. So in a couple of days, theres a new addition of hops to be done.. Cant wait to wrap my lips around this one. To top it off, I will add some mango late in the fermentation.
All We need to do is decide on how to get it on bottles.. Potentially a new round of investments there..
